DERBY TOWNS

Chellaston

Chellaston village in Derbyshire has become another suburb of Derby with a great many new houses having been built over the last couple of decades. The expansion actually started when the railway arrived in Chellaston in 1873, but the village does seem to retain an independent character.

The old board school opened in 1878 for 130 children and now houses over 300 infants. There is a very popular and large comprehensive school in the village.
