Something good happened on Monday. It was really unusual, but we could see it coming. What was it you ask?
Answer…our telephone system lit up like a Christmas tree. All six lines had incoming calls for a large percentage of the morning and this trend has continued each day.
Why has this happened? Several factors have started to impact on the property market.
- Low interest rates. It is now cheaper to borrow money than for several decades. The man on the street may feel that mortgages are still hard to come by but I understand that two major building societies are about to launch 90% mortgages so watch this space.
- There has been a realignment of prices and many houses are now good value for money. Add to this that the gap between smaller and bigger houses has closed, this is a great time to buy.
- There is a pent up demand with many people over the last 6 months sitting and waiting to see what will happen now can see the attraction, availability and affordability of some lovely homes.
- Investors are returning to the market. Last week 3 came to see me expressing their belief in the market now having levelled off.
- The first indication that there has been a slight increase in prices also indicating a bottoming out of prices.
Now I don't know if this is happening in Rotherham or Stoke on Trent but I can say without doubt that Derby is certainly looking brighter. So if you are considering moving give me a call.
